ABOUT PASTOR JOHN BAILEY, JR.
Pastor John Bailey, Jr. is a native of Violet, Louisiana. Pastor Bailey was baptized at the age of 10 at the First Asia Baptist Church of Meraux and acknowledged his calling to the ministry at the age of 23. He preached his first sermon on August 31, 1987 at First Asia Baptist Church. On December 6, 1991, Pastor Bailey was installed as Pastor of Corinne Missionary Baptist Church. He is the proud parent of Brent Bailey. His educational background includes a Bachelors and Master’s degree in Theology from Christian Bible College of Kenner and a Doctorate of Theology from Slidell Baptist Seminary.
Under the leadership of Pastor Bailey, God has brought Corinne Missionary Baptist Church from a mighty long way. On May 14, 1993 the church had a Note Burning to celebrate the completion of the mortgage. Pastor Bailey shared his vision with the congregation that entailed building a larger church. With the support of the church, in July 1997, 2.6 acres of land were purchased to build a new edifice. Through dedication and the people having a mind to work and give, the church was able to pay off mortgage of the land in 19 months.
In December 2004 pilings were driven for the construction of the new Corinne Missionary Baptist Church located at 5620 E. Judge Perez Drive. The new sanctuary was scheduled to be dedicated on September 25, 2005, however, we were faced with a tremendous setback. Hurricane Katrina devastated St. Bernard Parish and filled both church buildings with over 9 feet of water. Under Pastor Bailey’s leadership, a mere eight months after Hurricane Katrina, we were able to have our first worship service in our old sanctuary Easter Sunday 2006. With the majority of the congregation still scattered across the United Sates, Pastor Bailey decided to step out on faith and renovate the old church, leaving a zero balance. Through prayer, God made a way for the church to receive a SBA loan. November of 2006 we began renovating our present building in which we worship today at 5620 E. Judge Perez Drive. Even though the vision was delayed, it was never denied. On April 29, 2007, the vision came to pass. Pastor Bailey also has helped to set up distribution centers on the church’s property and has helped families get building materials and supplies so they could return back home. Through the years and overcoming many obstacles, Pastor Bailey has proven to be a dedicated leader and God lead visionary. Pastor Bailey's vision is to continue saving souls for the kingdom and to continue empowering, equipping, and encouraging God's people through teaching and preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. One of Pastor Bailey’s biggest goals is to one day make Corinne Missionary Baptist Church a debt free house of worship.
